BNA's Law School Program
A Law School Exclusive From BNA!
Easy Law School-Wide Access
Law school librarians nationwide say they need greater access to
BNA information services for students, faculty, and staff members. To
help meet this need, BNA developed a program just for law schools.
U.S. law schools can now add unrestricted, campus-wide access to
the following information packages -- Core, Core Plus with Tax
Management, Custom, or BNA All--without usernames or passwords.*

BNA Law School Program Features
E-Mail Highlights are part of any subscription to a BNA
electronic notification service. Users can now self-register for e-mails, or they
will be delivered to one designated e-mail address. They can then be forwarded
to faculty and others in the school.
More Subscription Choices--Your law school can choose
from the basic Core Package, the Core Plus Package, the Core Plus with
Tax Management Package, or the BNA All Package that includes all of the
titles historically available on Westlaw® and LexisNexis® as well
as additional titles on BNA Direct. You can create a Custom package for
access on BNA Direct only by choosing any BNA title included in the Law
School Program and customize a solution to suit your information needs.
Multi-Platform Access--If you subscribe to the Core Package,
the Core Plus Package, the Core Plus with Tax Management Package, or
the BNA All Package, your school will have access to the
corresponding package of titles on Westlaw® and LexisNexis® at no
additional charge. **
Greater Flexibility--If you subscribe to any of the
Core Packages, you can order additional electronic titles (accessible
only through BNA Direct) on an a la carte basis at similar special
rates.
Simplified Pricing--No matter what package you choose, the
price you pay will be a published fixed price, based on the number of
"Full Time Equivalent" law students enrolled in your law
school. To ensure your school pays just once for the information and
just a modest increment for multiple formats you choose to retain
(print/CD), significant credits will be given for existing business.
These credits are applied in exactly the same way for each school. You
can be assured that every school that participates in the program is
offered prices that are calculated the very same way. There are no
special deals, negotiations, or exceptions.
The BNA Law School Program for law school-wide access to electronic
information provides universal access through IP authentication, at
the lowest price we have ever offered. We invite you to meet with one
of our Law School Consultants, John Baldwin or Ivan Rahman,
to discuss your information needs. They will help you find the best solution
for your library, faculty, and students.

Law School Campus-wide Program FAQ's
What is the Law School Program? BNA's Law School Program
offers law students and faculty access to a preset core grouping of
six BNA electronic services at rock bottom prices. This expanded
program offers more preset packages, more program features, and very
importantly, continued access to BNA titles on Westlaw® and
LexisNexis. (Access to BNA information on LexisNexis and Westlaw will
correspond to the package of BNA titles you choose.)
Why does BNA offer the law school program? In response to
market requests, BNA created a pricing package that offers:
standardized preset packages consisting of the BNA titles most widely
subscribed to by law schools that can be accessed on Westlaw and
LexisNexis as well as on the BNA platform; very low, fixed pricing
that eliminates time-consuming negotiations; predictable costs for
accurate and easy budgeting; convenient campus-wide access by
students, faculty, and staff through IP authentication of law school
servers and proxy servers.
Are there any BNA services that are not part of the new pricing
program for Law Schools?Yes. The "BNA All" contains over 90 titles
that have been specifically selected for the Law School Program
because they contain significant legal content. While the "BNA All"
package is quite comprehensive, it does not contain all of BNA's
electronic services. For instance, no titles from BNA's Human
Resources product line are included.
Are E-mail Highlights included with the Core Product offering
and the a la carte services? Yes. All subscriptions to BNA
electronic notification services include e-mail highlights under the
law school program license. E-mails will be delivered to one
designated e-mail address, from which they can be forwarded to faculty
and students.
Can a law school substitute another service for one of the
preset program packages? No. For two reasons: 1. In order for BNA
to be able to provide these products at the lowest prices possible,
there can be no deviation from the core product offerings. 2. Our
online partners, LexisNexis and Westlaw, will only be able to offer
access to the preset packages that are part of the program.
Can a law school subtract a service from the Core Product
offerings and pay less for the remaining package? The preset Core
Package is the minimum commitment for participation in the law school
program with concurrent Westlaw or LexisNexis access to BNA materials.
Once the "Core" threshold is met, schools can then add additional
services a la carte to customize their subscription list to meet their
needs. Note: A la carte services will be available only on the BNA
platform. There will be no Westlaw or LexisNexis access for a la carte
titles.
What if the preset Core Package offers more services than the
law school needs? If the preset Core Package offers more services
than is needed, schools have the option of selecting any BNA title for
access on BNA Direct only, and creating a package customized to suit
their individual need.
Does a law school need to retain its print subscriptions in
order to participate in the new pricing program? No. Law schools
need not continue their print subscriptions to participate in this
program. However, if a school retains (or adds) the print version of a
Web service licensed under this program, they will receive a
significant credit for that print subscription.
Must a law school have a Web subscription under the program to
qualify for credit on existing print services?Yes. In order to
receive credit for print service, the law school must have a
corresponding Web subscription for that product under the Law School
Program.
If a law school participates in this program, can they receive
credit on all their print services? No. Credit is available only
on those titles the school receives electronically through a Web
license under the Law School Program.
Must a law school participate in the Law School Program in order
to remain a BNA customer? No. Schools may continue to pay regular
rates for any print or electronic services to which they subscribe,
and use those services in the traditional manner if they choose not to
participate in the Law School Program.
Can a law school participate in the Law School Program and keep
subscribing to some services under standard terms and pricing?
Yes. Schools can participate in the program to take advantage of its
special pricing and access as well as subscribe to additional products
not available under the program at regular commercial rates.
What access methods will law schools have available to them
under this program? Access will be via IP authentication only. For
access outside the campus community, authorized law school students
and personnel can read their electronic BNA subscriptions through law
school-designated proxy servers.
